had to check a wikipedia article on this year in film. i've been in the theatres a few times this year, more than i've ever been.
i liked Annihilation, Isle of Dogs was cute, Hereditary completely snatched me, a few other things but my to-watch list is still pretty lengthy.

Yeah, my favorites are pretty much a cross-section of everyone else's. Annihilation, Isle of Dogs and Infinity War are the ones I think are great, but I kinda enjoyed Red Sparrow despite its problems. I'm going to watch Mandy today or tomorrow, and maybe The Breadwinner. I'm watching more of older movies and 2017's award season films now.

EDIT: I totally forgot Incredibles 2. Amazingly subversive film, if you think about it. Saw it on the opening day.

Great thread. I been looking for someone to discuss movies with.

1. Avengers: Infinity war
2. Black Panther
3. Venom

Those were the best that gave me a profound movie experience.

Movies now are such garbage. I literally didn't like any I saw this year. The Meg was bad, The Nun sucked, Slenderman just shoot me, this year's Purge was just a racial agenda, and even Halloween felt rushed and cheap. I am really sad about the decline in movie quality, they used to be one of the very few things I enjoyed.

I thought that most movies this year were mediocre, but I liked some like Solo, Ready Player One, Sicario 2 and Tomb Raider.
And @ctoan , I actually liked this depiction of Han Solo, not a masterpiece but still better than any other Star Wars movie before

The Writer / Director Ryan Eslinger didn’t have the budget of a movie like Arrival, but I think he managed to make one of the few movies with a realistic or plausible depiction of an intelligence that’s capable of traveling to other star systems.

Upgrade. Good fun sci fi/ horror. Kind of Robocop meets deathwish. Adventures in a ghostland. Mean spirited horror with very subtle references to decaying mental health. Not for the faint hearted

Bohemian Rhapsody is my #1 this year. Never thought that I could get so much pleasure of movie watching (btw, I'm not a fan of Queen at all). Best musical biopic of all time!
