"So get out there and hunt and fish and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, climb the mountains, bag the peaks, run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, the lovely, mysterious, and awesome space.

Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much; I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound men and women with their hearts in a safe deposit box, and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this; You will outlive the bastards." --Edward Abbey

Abbey's body was buried in the Cabeza Prieta Desert, where "you'll never find it." The friends carved a marker on a nearby stone, reading:

EDWARD
PAUL
ABBEY
1927—1989

You reladet to him

only via a common ancestor millions of years ago :haha:. maybe not close biological relatives, but definitely share specific aspects of this very isolated individualist view/event from Abbey. Philip Nitschke once said he'd like to head out to the Gibson Desert with his Nembutal and leave his body for the crows. Elon Musk wants to die on Mars... desert solitude is to die for, and I used to have regular access to it, but have been in the boring midwest for the past few years. Definitely can't imagine dying within the confines of the outgrowth of evolutionary machinery that is the early-21st century (my renunciation is out of it not being advanced enough, for my tastes; Abbey seems more of a luddite) :
