Here's a good resource for learning how to make and keep bonsai mothers. Now that Cannabis is becoming legal in many places around the world, it's definitely worth learning. If you happen to stumble upon some particularly good genetics or standout phenotypes, you can preserve them for many years, and make an almost unlimited number of clones!

Seeds are like children, and can be very unpredictable. Just because the parents have great genetics, there is no guarantee that a seed will perform as well or have the same features. Clones on the other hand, are identical to their parent and always perform the same.

My mom believes in God, but she's not a hard core Christian. My dad's agnostic. They both are ignorant when it comes to weed. I had to hide my edibles last night. Luckily they were both asleep when I came home from work so it was easy to bring them in :) I can't wait to take one maybe tonight

I remember when I used to be ignorant about weed like they are. When it finally became legal and I gave it a shot, it was love at first toke.

I also was ignorant about weed during my teen years. I thought people were "ruining their lives" by smoking it and when I would tell my mom they were idiots for doing it, she agreed 🙄 now I love it and it really helps me at times

@Lost in a Dream @Squiddy Funnily enough, I had this too when I was really young. The adults used to drink and use a lot of different drugs, but the only thing I ever noticed was the bong in the laundry.

All the demonising of weed from the world around me, combined with the adult's bizarre behaviour, led me to believe weed was the evil culprit. It wasn't until I grew up and eventually tried it myself, that I realised they were always acting crazy because of alcohol and speed, and in fact the weed was pretty much the only thing helping! If it wasn't for the pot, everyone would have been way worse off including me.

@braindead911 I'm sorry that you experience that, Wishing you all the best.

I sometimes have a tough time with it mentally ever since my health plummeted. It's super important now to find the right strains, grown the right way, with the right effects. There used to be a time when I could smoke as much as I liked of any variety, and always thoroughly enjoy it. These days I need to be careful.

No two plants are the same, there's hundreds of different active chemicals naturally found in Cannabis, in different amounts. The difference between the effects of some plants is enormous. Some will put you into an intense edgy psychedelic head trip that can be very overwhelming, and produce anxiety. Some will actually do nothing but make you sleepy and provide pain relief.

The 'high' that recreational users value, is often an unwanted side effect for people using it medicinally. There's plants out there that don't produce the 'high' at all, or are CBD dominant and relieve pain, inflammation, help sleep and appetite but without the mental effects. Maybe you could look into those, but you generally won't find them for sale from your average weed dealer. 99% of weed that gets sold is super strong and potent very high THC- this is what appeals to the average smoker.

The biggest factors I've found in relation to effects, are genetics, harvest time including drying and curing method, and the lights used.

Indica is more physical, with relaxing and 'couchlock' effects. Sativa is cerebral, with stimulating and 'mental' effects. The common plant grown for sale is a hybrid of both, with red-eye-munchies effects together with the intense trippy cerebral ones.

Strong lights produce more potent plants. The sticky resin that is the drug, is thought to protect the flowers from UV light; therefore plants that receive more light produce fatter more potent and resinous buds. This is ideal, but there's some people that grow plants under less intense light in order to get buds that are milder. One thing is for sure, with breeding, the invention of hydroponics and powerful indoor grow light tech getting brighter every day, the potency of weed is increasing dramatically, which I believe is partially responsible for some adverse effects people get. Back in the 60's when weed was only grown outside, plants were usually around 3-8% THC. Now we see plants with up to 26% THC and higher- watch out!

Harvest time plays a very important role too. The same plant can produce two entirely different effects depending on when it's harvested and how it's dried and cured. When trichomes are still clear or milky, the plant produces more edgy and stimulating effects. If left to mature until the trichs turn a honey or amber colour, this converts a lot of the THC into other things like CBD and CBN. *See diagram* So those looking for more medicinal and less edgy and mental buds, even with indica dominant plants, will be wise to make sure their plants are quite mature before cutting them down.

You can also grow a prize winning strain, with all the most expensive lights and nutrients, but if you clip the fresh buds off and dry them in the microwave, you will end up with bad effects, and a very shitty smoke that tastes like grass n moldy hay. The final crucial step to producing amazing weed is to dry it slowly and carefully, and cure the buds properly. This is a skill that many don't bother to learn.

When to harvest cannabis diagram

Diagram is for visual reference only, I actually believe that 100% amber trichs is best and most medicinal + pain relieving.

Sunset Paradise (Sunset Sherbert X Thin Mint Cookies / GSC) by Paradise Seeds. 60% indica, 40% sativa.

Sunset Paradise is a twist on the infamous Gelato, and a cross of Thin Mint Cookies aka GSC. It has a heritage of Powerhouse OG Kush and Durban Poison. Citrus, berries, and lavender overtones, balanced sativa and indica effects yet very calming.

Wish I had a source to get some.

I live in the US, but have no practical way of making it to any of the states that sell legally.

Some places still require you to have a medical card.

Is it completely illegal where you are, or only available with a medical card? Because if you approach the community, maybe some online FB group even, you should be able to easily get the name of a doctor who will give you a card no questions asked.

I was given a contact of someone who smokes it, and when I asked the dude for it through text I was immediately blocked.. that is the closest I got to the plant. I wanted cannabis to find purpose in life. Now I just want to avoid everyone and finish up my ctb schedule, I am done!

@.CTB That's a good point! I forgot to even mention some of the bad shit that dodgy growers use. Lucky it's easy to tell when the bud is PGR'd

@lobster salad Sorry that happened to you, I remember so many times that I had to search high and low for a decent dealer, and they come and go so fast. It's very annoying.

I'm not saying weed will give you purpose in life, but if you got into growing it, you wouldn't need to rely on anyone for it- and it could be very fun and rewarding as a hobby! I would definitely consider it if there is a chance it could prevent ctb. Wishing you all the best.

That's spun out, I've actually said the same thing. Your the only other person I've heard say that.

Funnily enough, a mate dropped off a random gram for my mum a few days ago, and it's definitely some kind of classic old school stuff! I couldn't believe my nose. I've got some super sparkly buds that smell great, but theyre so new and different to this. This stuff is exactly like that nostalgic smell I always remember the adults room out the back would smell like when I came home from school. I showed my other mate and made him have a sniff, and his eyes lit up. He agreed, said that it's been ages since he smelled that and remembers it too. We had a single cone each and it was ridiculously good.

I partially blame Arjan and green house seeds company. They went out of the way to find all the most pure, untouched genetics on earth and polluted them with shitty fem handouts. It's getting so hard to find some regular decent OG bud.

Thanks for sharing. Sorry I'm not responding much. Those bastards! What happened? Why is it so different? Was stuff more organic back then? That is before a lot of places started making it legal. I remember the stuff was so much danker smelling also. (Atleast I thought) I can remember having a gram wrapped in foil in 4 zip loc bags and the whole house would still stink. There are still some strains like that maybe idk. All I know is that before 2012-2013 is seemed SO much different. I miss it. Used to get white widdow that looked like it was covered in snow.

Nice i seen a video where the guy went to Africa or Jamaica looking for "organic untampered seeds" or whatever

Cool to see this thread. I just do edibles. I tend to do them to go to sleep.

I also do them just to relax and listen to music play games and drink.

Always go on edibles for social events but just use the ones that only have thc no cbd for this.

Arjan might have had good intentions, but as a multimillionaire businessman entrepreneur I can't help but be suspicious. He also has a funny way of getting in with the locals and learning all their secrets, like how they avoid getting their crops destroyed by secretly planting higher in the mountains, using rocks under roots to be able to pick up plants to run and hide, or stacking mud to grow in inaccessible swamps.

Green House Seed Company has the stash and all the cash. Also, they want us to believe the strain hunters found all the best pure genetics on earth and took samples to preserve and breed into amazing new varieties, winning the cannabis cup over 30 times. Yet beans from GHSC often disappoint. Their current 8th generation or whatever white widow is a shadow of it's former glory, it's a kick in the guts for people who spend money on growing something they have fond memories of, and receive warehouse seeds not worth breeding that the ganja elites want to get rid of and cash in. I still like watching the strain hunters doco's though.

It's very complex, but it has to do with breeding, environments, and tampering with genetics. Like all dogs come from wolves, all cannabis comes from the landraces. They found many of the most untouched and pure genetics, evolved over billions of years, and swapped mutant and feminised foreign seeds with the farmers and locals. Most of those people have probably polluted much of the natural stock with foreign genetics. Once landrace genetics are diluted, they can never go back.

As we see in Jamaica and other places, they're happy they now have crops ready in 3 months rather than 6+, but they have to buy new seeds from the european breeders every 4 or so years due to genetic limitations, and the cash crops eventually dilute with wild crops that have been breeding accidentally with foreign cultivars over decades.

The act of breeding plants in indoor environments changes genetics over time too. Genetic information is lost, even if you provide plants with light that is as close to the spectrums of the sun as possible, and simulate all the perfect conditions. This is why breeders like Arjan like to take their popular classic coffee shop genetics, and after a few generations, cross breed them back with landraces to regain vigor, lost cannabinoid profiles, and etc.

The popular new flavours of the month strains with names of candy and deserts, might be attractive and have fat and potent buds, but they are mutants and often far removed from the original experience that only people old enough will know.

@lili Welcome 🌱 That's definitely true, I had to learn the hard way over years getting way too baked in social settings and staring at my shoes for hours! When done right, edibles are the perfect companion.

Weed is the only drug I like besides Alcohol and benzos. Very good for relaxing and I live in a (REDACTED) area with a lot of fresh weed growing so the quality is really good here. It's decriminalized too. Only part I don't like about it is buying it because it makes me really nervous bc of social anxiety :( but all and all it's a good way to get my mind off my shit life. I'll smoke any strain btw, all the same to me. I usually just smoke in my room or near this pond, I hate the smell tbh but am used to it now

It's funny that the worst and most harmful thing about weed, is that it's illegal. We shouldn't have to deal with criminals for it, it should not be illegal anywhere. The only upside is; when it's illegal, it's worth a lot more and people can use it to feed their families and support their communities much better than if it were legal and corporations are allowed to move in and set up cannabis farms.

You hate the smell?! All the different beautiful aromas of the herb are one of my favourite things about it. Some are piney, woody, and spicy. Some are fruity, sweet. Some smell like petrol fumes. Some smell like coffee. Some smell like salami, pepperoni, pizza, and deli meats. I even love the pungent skunky and moldy cheese strains!
