I just want to say how incredibly helpful this stuff is to me, when used in the right way. It’s been a goal for a while but been too addicted to it to really do it properly. It’s easier to say now as I’m doing better, but I used it too much in the wrong way for far too long.

I’ve recently cut waaay down due to a realisation of this, gentle but firm pressure from my partner and to keep costs down as I spend my money elsewhere for a while. But I just won’t give it up - it’s just too useful. There’s a sweet spot to be found and don’t wanna jinx it but I think I might found mine…

I suffer from horrible, daily pain from both early osteoarthritis and endometriosis and it has taken much of my life from me. Last night I forgot my contraceptive pill, which hormonally keeps the endo mostly at bay - less than 12 hours later my entire abdomen is in the most agonising pain, despite the usual morphine, naproxen and paracetamol. Even an extra swig (too sore to bother measuring!) of oramorph hasn’t touched it.

Been toughing it out all day and only just thought of smoking weed to ease my symptoms - a full 7 hours of suffering without it even crossing my mind! Simultaneously proud and annoyed for not thinking if it sooner lol but so glad I finally did… now a third of the way down a joint and the pain has at least halved already and I can actually sit up instead of writhing around on my back and sides clutching a hot water bottle stapled to a as pillow…

Lots of variables at work here but am loving the balance I seem to have found; non relying so heavily on it n having it much further from the front of my mind as it has been in years; having lower tolerance because not constantly affected by it (barely time to come out of the last high before the next for so long!) so feeling the effects much more; replacing the tobacco with damiana (a widely used legal herb used alone for relaxation/herbal high for those few that don’t already know), cutting the THC stuff with CBD herb to both get a broader spectrum of effects and to be able to be active instead of vegetative…

Actually really happy with my relationship with weed right now, it feels functional and healthy. It’s so good with both its physiological and psychological effects that I don’t know why it’s still not fully legal here.

There’s a lot of hype and dodgy research about it out there and I always find it’s best to try these things ourselves as all our bodies are unique. However for me, it definitely calms nausea, lifts my mood, dulls my pain. There is a definite anti-inflammatory effect on my belly, which has been swollen all day and has eased enough for me to be ok to bend at the waist :pfff: apparently there are two types of endocannabinoid receptor that are both are found in the womb - evidence enough that this a worthy treatment given its lack of side effects, especially in direct comparison with my other painkillers.

So ladies, if you get period pain or PCOS, endometriosis, adenomyosis,; any lady problems, from body stuff to brain stuff, it might be worth a go in some form or other - even the CBD stuff (that is legal here in the U.K.) can be effective both alone and mixed with other things. Lots of research out there, many things to try before taking chemical stuff and wrecking your insides like I am lol

Maybe I could reduce my chemical meds if I just get the right herbal combo?? Some herb hype is utter bullshit but damiana seems to work along with weed, plus where did they get aspirin and opium from in the first place, hmmm? :haha:

Anyway, just wanted to say how magic it was lol n obviously a balance (of both type/strain and proper mix of THC and CBD and obviously frequency of use) is to be found; too much of anything, no matter how good, always ends up ultimately doing harm.

Of course there are also people that it doesn’t really work for, for a multitude of reasons, whether physiological, psychological or moral, and that’s okay too. It always seems alien to me when people react badly to this stuff - obviously they’re just built different, or have the wrong mix of chemicals going on?

Does anyone regularly get bad effects with weed? Do you think it’s you or the substance? What are the best/worst things that you experience? Has anyone got any tips of things to mix with it or things might work in place to similar effect?

I am sensitive to THC so I have to be careful with what I consume. I prefer edibles with 1:1 or 2:1 CBD/THC. Otherwise I get too anxious, high heart rate, etc. Smoking or vaping can easily become too much for me. The most important thing I do is to take as small of a dose as possible for the desired effect.

Best effects for me are increased appetite. Sometimes it reduces pain/headaches but at the same time I'll feel more sensitive to random pain in my body (to the point where I can't even walk comfortably.) Not sure why that happens and I wonder if I should be more concerned about it. When I get the dose right I feel a bit less miserable and more relaxed, which is good. Too much THC and I'll either pass out or be really anxious and alert.

As far as mixing - full spectrum (lots of terpenes) is supposed to be synergistic. Look into the entourage effect. I don't have any good resources to link but I think I first learned about it on Leafly

Woah that sounds amazing!
When I consume cannabis, I just get more philosophical and now and start talking to random people about this nonsense universe lol.

Hugs and love,

Matt

It is illegal to buy cannabis where I live so I have never bought it, never tried it.

If you want to reduce your spending I highly recommend buying a decent vaporizer. There are a few good ones around now and they arw very economical. They will probably cost in the region of £150 but will save you that very quickly and you'll bw in the black within a month. They tend to hold around 0.3 of a gram and that is good for a session or two if you're really economical. Also cuts out the nees for tobacco or tobacco substitutes. Taste great and feels much cleaner. I could never have gone back to smoking. Might be preaching to the already converted so fogive me if I'm telling you something you already know. It was just such a revelation to me that I can't resist sharing.

If possible try looking into some strains of cannabis with different levels of cbd/thc ratios. I found a 1/2 ratio quite agreeable. It's a bit of the best of both worlds in my case but it's gonna vary from folk to folk.

All the best.

I used to enjoy cannabis very much. I was a daily smoker for a long time.

Looking back I now realize that I self-medicated my anxiety and depression. It worked quite well for a long time.

As I got older I had a few episodes of manic psychosis. Turns out I have Bipolar Disorder. In hindsight that explained a lot about my past and I feel that I have had this disorder since I was a child.

Unfortunately, I can’t use cannabis any more for fear of triggering more episodes.

Enjoy it if it doesn’t cause you problems, but keep an eye out for signs of psychosis.

Very good advice. :)

I generally get super high to numb myself from the idea of life. Weed is a wonderful thing. I’ve taken a break to lower my tolerance.

I use it every day as it can help motivate me. Without it, life is hellish. With it, I feel a little better. Been doing this for years. My tolerance is high. Gonna try and take a tolerance break but nervous of how low I’ll be without it.

Queen Victoria used cannabis tincture for her period cramps.

I'm using it to self-medicate at the moment, it just quiets things down in my head and maybe I can distract myself with a movie or two and actually be able to pay attention to it.

The downside is that I get nothing else done, things that I can muster the motivation to do while sober despite whatever I'm feeling. Time passes by and days turn into weeks.

I'm also THC sensitive, and it's expensive a/f here (one of the most expensive states in the US), so I can't afford the "good" stuff, and any of the useful stuff that would ease the deep chronic pain i'm living with, would send me again into paranoia and hallucinatory sht (learned the hard way). However, I do use CBD and hybrid cannabis that takes the edge off (or I pretend it does), sometimes combined with a light narcotic that was miraculously rx'd several months ago and I just take it slow (when the pain is really on my nerves). Lucky for me, I'm so used to living with moderate to severe pain for so long (pick a reason), that it's become part of the background noise of my life now. But yeah, not a day goes by that I don't use CBD, cannabis in general, and/or a narcotic, to manage pain, anxiety, depression, and chronic insomnia from all of the above. Doesn't cure my life, but it keeps me this side of 'tolerable'.

I wouldn’t mix anything with it, beware of mold, sources, bad people who consume, manufacture, or distribute. It’s not worth a damn.

Used properly in different dosages it can “help” but it can also cause paranoia, delusions, vomiting, anxiety, and so on. Not to mention potential legal challenges depending on what country, what state, and what penalty results from usage.

Long term usage can potentially cause other side effects and is a known teratogen.

Additionally, the consequences of potentially being “affiliated” with or “associating” with violent criminals who use marijuana, manufacture marijuana products, or distribute it can leave you susceptible to being the victim of a crime or several crimes and cause what is known as a snowball effect. Especially for turning in evidence if you are a mandatory reporter.

It might be “used” as a “harm reduction” substance but it is still potentially harmful, as any drug prescription or non prescription can be.

An example would be my former housemates, their relatives, read the many news articles that lead to funerals related to drug usage.

Recently a DEA agent was shot and killed in Tucson, AZ during a bust that involved marijuana being smuggled on an Amtrak train.

Point to the assailants. A dead 26 year old.

I will again point at the dipshit in Big Bear named DEVON, and his punk ass girlfriend AMANDUHHHH. Along with the stalkers. Police win every time regardless.
