I'm an antinatalist, i think anything bad that happen to children is in part their parents fault, and i always side with children, i also think that the right to suicide is an ALIENABLE RIGHT, that it's the most fundamental right. Suicide is illegal in all countries (because you can't freely talk about it, plan it without risking loss of freedom), and i think it's one of the greatest shame of our current society.

But still, i'm amazed that some people here really expect to convince their parents that suicide is the right choice for them, and are saddened by the fact that their parents won't understand. Let's be honest here, THAT WILL ALMOST NEVER HAPPEN, parents are just not wired to do that, they will never tell you "Sure, i understand now, suicide is the right choice for you", it's an extreeeeeme rare occurences that only happen for parents with kids that have extremely painful medical conditions. Even understanding, compassionate parents that don't judge will never reach that level, it's like trying to swim againt the current and getting pissed off that the current doesn't carry you to where you want.

I'm not trying to guiltrip anyone here, quite the contrary, i think that children don't have any responsibility to their parents (while the reverse isn't true, i think it's immoral for parents with a children in need to kill themselves), just don't expect your parents to accept it, it will never happen. Do what's right for you, what will convincing your parents bring you anyway ? It's just a wate of time and energy.

You're right, it would just be so much easier knowing you're not destroying someone elses life. So much nicer to have permission from loved ones. It would be stupid to expect this though, you're right.

I see what you mean.
I told my mom a few things I think about and is now forcing me to get help. Intervention, in my case, only makes it worse. I just wish she could genuinely understand how I felt and accepted that I'm going to off myself, though that is very, very unlikely. I wish I could off myself without anyone caring. I don't want to hurt anyone. :(

This post is obviously in response to one posted not long ago where someone expresses frustration their mother didn't understand. I think posts like this "calling out" others are wrong and cause people more pain. Obviously it affected them and you should have some empathy.

Yes I agree, some teenagers are just naive or stupid. You can't make someone see what he doesn't want to see. Just do your thing and be quiet. The goal is to die not to teach mommy that some social rules make no sense.

Reading this was like mirroring my own mind.

Do people really think that the ones who forced them to live for fulfilling their selfish wishes are going to understand you want to escape of their claws?

Don't be offended, but cmon dude what did you expect your mom to do? She's not supposed to let you kill yourself, it's just nature
She found out a long time ago that I was going to kill myself. I didn't tell her I was though. Today I just spoke to her about a few things on my mind, saying these things are pointless. Then it kind of sparked from there. I'm pretty dumb and I've hottgo used to speaking my mind, which needs to change.

You need to stop. You say "don't be offended" but then lay into the kid. This post was made as a callout post...it serves no purpose than to mock or belittle...and is wrong. You aren't helping them..you are making them feel worse.

Well, the thing is that even if they did understand, that won't mean they won't suffer from your suicide ! So you obtain nothing from that "approval"

He's most likely right. I'm usually always wrong. I'm blind. I made a mistake so it's my fault and I have to accept that. I have to make sure I don't open up, even a little bit, again.

Nope. But it's what we want. We know it's not possible

Nothing about your wishes and wants is wrong. Everyone wants to be understood and being suicidal doesn't change that. It was shitty for you to be singled out like this and the people piling on should be ashamed. Seeing how you are blaming yourself so much just proves the unhelpfullness of such posts.

I can understand it anyway, don't telling this problem to no one is very stressful. I sometimes felt the need of talking of this with them but I didn't it: it would be an awful idea. Better repressed than locked in some mental center.

That's your interpretation, I think this post is very useful. Maybe someone else will consider telling his parents and he'll need to read this before.

That's your own interpretation.

My goal is actually compassionate, preventing people from the additional suffering of swimming againt the current, the pain of not succeeding at the sysiphean mission of convincing their parents, reminding them that they can gain nothing from that, all the while respecting their choice, autonomy and unalienable right to chose for themselves, i never guiltripped nor judged.

I'm responsible for what i say, not for your own interpretation.

Thank you for defending me. They mean no harm towards me or anyone. It was my fault though. I have to keep quiet.

Indeed. I'm so used to telling people about how I feel, which made things end up like this. I opened up almost a year ago. My thoughts have been flowing out ever since.

As the author of the post i want to explain again that i'm absolutely not judging people who do this, i'm not saying it's "bad"

I'm saying it causes only suffering, frustration and makes it worse for the CHILDREN, my purpose was absolutely not to judge or call anyone out, quite the contrary, but only to prevent needless suffering, frustration, unavoidable failure that makes only one feel worse for not succeeding in an impossible mission.

This may be true but the way you went about it was wrong. The wording of passive aggressive questions like "Does anybody REALLY expect....." are always a callout. You could have talked to him in the thread he posted rather than put him on blast in such a way. HOW you say things matters. That message seems to be lost on a lot of people anymore. If someone is clearly suffering a public post calling them out is not the right move and anyone could have predicted it would just make him feel worse. It was just not needed.

I understand. It did cause needless frustration and suffering so I see where you're coming from.

Dudes relax, I'm sure he only tried to help and show it only brings more suffering.

Also Gevatsu, I know how you feel, I was repressed about this topic for years with my family and really wanted to cry for understanding, so I know how do you feel now.
