Hey, I'm going to be put under general anathesia during a surgery next month. I am wondering if there is anything I can take before that would cause me to never wake up after going under?

Thanks to all

They're not going into jail just for taking something trying to sabotage their own general anesthesia. But the doctors are pretty smart and have a bunch of equipment ready if their heart stops or something so it's probably not going to work.

Not them, the doctors. Malpractice, I'm thinking

I'm sorry, I misread your post. Of course, you are right! She could get the doctors into jail for malpractice if she didn't sign an agreement that she had been informed about what she is allowed to intake before surgery

The other commenter misunderstood you, but is still basically right. The doctors know much more about what will and can kill you than the patient does.

And anyway, ain't no anesthesiologists going to jail because a patient poisoned themselves pre-surgery. It might fuck with their malpractice-insurance and their career, but on the balance of probabilities it will be determined that they were an accidental victim of a smooth suicider.

Also, of course - the OP idea is a complete non-starter for all of the reasons.

Short answer: No.

Longer answer: This is such a specialist question that no-one on here is likely to be able to answer it any better than you could do yourself by googling. And, for the reasons creatureoflight laid out, it is in any case unlikely to work out.

I've also thought of this. Being put under general anaesthesia was so nice. The anaesthesist just said "Have a nice dream" and I was gone. However, as people pointed out, they monitor you very closely and if you took any medication, they'll know long before the surgeon makes the first cut.

Thanks all for the information. Always good to get others advice and thoughts on the idea before trying something like that. Guess back to the drawing board for some other time and way.
