Oh good. I didn't know that.

In the UK, France, Italy, Poland, Czech Republic, and Serbia, you can purchase black powder replicas without a license.

Germany and Spain won't let you. Sorry ya'll if you live there. (Try moving to another country in Europe or so if possible.)

I have a black powder replica of Colt Navy .44 made by Pieta, and I wonder mainly if there is any comparison between the CTB, and loss of a consciousness? Couple years ago I OD'ed on what I got from my psychiatrist, by accident. I went to the rest room, did my thing, then "something bad is going to happen" Spider Man senses, and it did, I found myself on the other side of the room, with broken, and sprained ankle, which I didn't know at the time, because I felt so bad, I had to crawl back to my room. I have never felt so bad in my entire life, a terrible experience, and a feeling. I didn't vomit though, or anything, just sleep for hours. Leg pain wasn't that bad either, more of a disappointment, I expected such things to hurt more.

It happened so fast, I don't even know when it happened, because one moment I was just standing, and then I'm gone laying on the ground.

That's my question, is it at all comparable? Is there anything comparable with fast CBT that we as humans can already experience?

If you can't get a gun and ammunition isn't regulated, you can always make one. Two pipes fitting into each other the larger one capped off with a piece of wood with a rounded off nail through the center. Look up "survival shotgun"

Would 16 gauge buck #1 be sufficient for ctb purposes?

Considering people ctb with 38 and 380, I'm sure it would work. Btw, I've never seen a 16 gauge gun. Only ever heard of 10,12, and 20.

This website says the 16 gauge is similar in size to a 20, but packs almost as much punch as a 12. https://www.petersenshunting.com/editorial/comeback-16-gauge/369888
I think they stopped making as many 16 gauges in recent times, mines an Winchester 37 which is probably from around the 60s.

I just hope I aim it properly(In my mouth of course.)

I've changed my CTB method from SN to crafting my own 12 gauge. Will be using 00 buckshot. Breaks down to be incognito. I would rather go with an impulsive CTB than a planned one. If you don't have access to a firearm but can get your hands on some ammunition, this is the way to go.

Of course, I don't encourage anyone to shoot themselves, but should you decide to go for it, then trust me mate, shotgun/rifle to the soft palate is 100% lethal if your gun or ammo aren't defective. To put it into perspective, a rifle bullet needs about 1 millisecond to leave the barrel, and the brain needs at least 50 milliseconds to react (hear/feel something). So, it's approx. fifty times too slow...
Maybe i can get a 45 caliber gun with hollow point bullets and aim it at my brain stem ( i hate the brain stem).

Can you put hollow point bullets in this one? would this be good for ctb?

Springfield Armory XD-S Single Stack .45 ACP Pistol

Can anyone help? Time is running short.

I like these two videos which compare 9mm vs 12 gauge with 00 buckshot:

The 9mm makes just a really clean looking tiny tunnel, meanwhile the shotgun just annihilates everything. I know everyone here has been recommending against using 9mm, and now you can see why!

However, here's a video of 44 magnum, so the OP was definitely right to recommend it:

So, basically, as long as you use 44 magnum or 00 buckshot, and aim for the brainstem, you won't fail. Even if you "miss" the brainstem, the energy or whatever it's called will make sure the shock wave or whatever it's called will annihilate the brainstem anyway.

How would a 9mm loaded with hollow points to the heart work?

I heard a doctor talk about a call he received about a man being stabbed in the heart. He thought it's impossible to survive something like that so he was expecting a corpse when he arrived, but he was still alive because it only barely hit the heart at an area that's not incredibly vital. He was able to save him.

So, you probably have incredibly high chance of success, maybe 99% as long as you don't miss. But it's still going to hurt a lot. That's why most ITT are saying to aim for the brainstem.

What about a .45 caliber handgun loaded with .45 hollow points in my mouth pointed slightly upward toward the brain stem? Would that do it ? What would be the percentage % of success rate and it would be painless ?

There is also a mossberg short barrell 12 gauge shot gun but i don't know if i can hold it and aim it in my mouth even though it's much shorter than a regular shotgun.

Also the .44 magnum .

Trying to decide between these.

44 magnum and 12 gauge with 00 buckshot would do it. Everyone's recommending them ITT. Also the videos I linked to just above shows how effective they are. I am not a gun expert tho so I don't know the difference between 45 and 44 caliber.

Yes it's painless because when you destroy the brainstem, you'll become unconsciouss.

44 mag is a revolver round. About 1300fps, 240gr (weight). 45 acp is a pistol round, about 1000fps, 180gr. Both would do the job equally. 44 mag revolvers are much more expensive than cheap 45 pistols.

Painless at brain stem because of how fast the bullet will travel through the stem. Easy formula assuming 6in to reach brain stem:
(6"+length of barrel inches)/(bullet speed (fps) x 12)

Using a 45 and gun with 5in barrel (6+5)/(1000 x 12) = 11/12000 = 0.000917 seconds to sever the brain stem. The human brain can't process information at these speeds or time frames.

There are so many pages ITT now, i think it would be nice to get all the info summed up in a post. I've read all the pages and have taken some notes which can be my contribution to try and summarize everything ITT. There's a lot more info ITT and in the OP, so my notes are far from a complete summary.

What is gauge? caliber? difference?
================================================================
- Gauge and caliber are two different ways to measure a firearm's bore (inner barrel dimension diameter).
- Gauge is a number representation of the diameter of something wherein the larger the number, the smaller the diameter.
- When you measure a firearm's bore in gauge, the number of lead balls should add up to 1 pound in weight.
So 20 gauge shotgun means you need 20 lead balls to add up to a pound.
- There are 20 gauge, 16 gauge and 12 gauge. Of those four, 12 gauge is the largest.
- 12 gauge = Diameter 0.73 inches or 18.5 mm.
- Caliber is usually used when the firearm shoots one shell.
- Caliber is the nominal bore diameter measured in inches or mm.

For suicidal purposes the most likely to kill instantly is the 12 gauge with a solid slug projectile, not any of the shot sizes really equals the lethality except perhaps the 00 buck shot load which, depending on length provides from 8 to 12 round ‘pellets’ of 0.330″ diameter.

.44 and .45 caliber magnum pistol/revolver are peer to a 12 gauge shotgun. There are several videos demonstrating this.

.357 (or around there?) are said be great too, but I want to see more evidence of this, such as a video.

Chokes
==================================================================
If the shotgun is threaded for a choke, you can install a cylinder choke that will have no choke effect. If you shoot it without any choke installed, you will eventually (probably fairly quickly) damage the choke threads so that you can no longer install a choke. With a damaged barrel, accuracy, especially with slugs will suffer, but it will not become dangerous to shoot it. It won’t blow up and injure you. It will, however, be less effective at longer range.

Thought: Probably best to not have a choke, because it's already difficult enough to handle the weapon for suicide purpose, even without the choke.

Success %
===================================================================
In Mobile Alabama, Riddick found that only 5% of suicides by shotgun have failed. (L Riddick, "Gunshot injuries in Mobile, Ala.", Am J Forensic Med and Pathology 13 (3), 1993.)

Posture
====================================================================
- Full Metal Jacket, Private Pyle

or

Stock on the ground, you in a chair with the shotgun between your knees, muzzle in your mouth and your head tipped forward so that you're looking straight down.
This way, you will be much more likely to hit the brainstem and if not, then at least destroy the vast majority of your brain such that you will die from blood loss, hydrostatic shock, and trauma.

Recoil
=======================================================================
The gun recoils because the bullet has been fired. This means the bullet has already left the chamber before the gun moves any significant amount. What you have to focus on is aiming and pulling the trigger without also pulling the gun off to the side.

I am going to ctb by shotgun, 12 gauge with 3 inch shells in the mouth aimed up.

Hey people, dont shoot yourself in the head. Its a horrible meme. Shoot in the heart, the heart is far more important. People just think "the mind lives in the brain" but biologically the heart is more important. You can live as a vegetable with brain damage but you cant live if your heart has a hole in it.
Lets say you miss and hit a lung instead... It will hurt but you can fire again right away, or doctors will patch you up and you can fire again. Tojo shot himself in the heart and supposedly missed and american doctors found him on the floor 1 minute later and saved him so he was fit for his hanging.
If you have a hole in your heart it wont pump blood, you will pass out in 2 seconds, if there is no hole you are basically still fit enough to fire again.

The main problem is aiming for the heart is much more difficult. I don't know exactly where my heart is - I have an idea. If you miss, or hit it at the wrong angle, a lot of bad things can happen - paralysis from hitting the spine, tissue damage that could take a long time to recover, hitting a lung and dying slowly and painfully.

Now, center of mass does make sense with a shotgun/slug or high caliber rifle (308/7.62 or bigger). Personally, I would love to have some kind of remote setup with a 50cal rifle. Imagine a remote trigger, and digital scope that transmits video wirelessly. You could stream the scope to your phone, line yourself up in the crosshairs, and hit a button the fires after a random amount of time, like 3-7 seconds.

I have considered that remotely operated gun approach. You can strap yourself and program the gun to fire in a preset list of targets. I dont have a gun though but im good with machine tools, i have considered making a compressed air rifle to fire something like an array of 10x10 flechettes into my chest, just some smooth tubes with a 3000 PSI air tank (or higher). Yes theres a risk of missing but theres also a risk of missing the specific part of the brain you want to get at.
As for the location of the heart, look up anatomy charts, you will have too for the headshot too.

Hi, I'm not really understanding this. Should one put it in the roof of their mouth? I'm thinking of this example with a shotgun btw.

When I shoot myself I'll aim for one of my fingers.

You can get black powder firearms.
I'm still doing my research on them, but once I have made more progress on that I'll share it here. It's unfortunate that there's so little discussion about black powder firearms here except for the few mentions about that they're an alternative.

But there are for example old 44 caliber black powder revolvers. The type they use in those wild west cowboy movies. They're less effective than a modern 44 cal magnum though, but I can't really say too much more right now. Must do more research first.
