Hello, Does anyone have advice or suggestions for the Pegasos Swiss Association?
if you are not terminally ill , it would be difficult to get a VAD .

We had this conversation sveral times. I know as a new user you can't use the search function yet. Many untruths and rumors were posted. Many people believe terminally ill means cancer. This is not right. There are many health conditions that are considered incurable. Each application is a case-by-case decision. If person X was accepted for depression or pain, it does not mean that person Y will also be accepted. The final decision is not made by the organization, but by their doctors and lawyers. Pegasos is known to be the most liberal organization, but there are more organizations in Switzerland and one in Germany. I recommend to read all infos on their websites carefully.

Someone (not on here) told me Switzerland will take anyone who wants to CTB, no matter what their health is like. They didn't specify which place though, they are talking bull right? I can't just rock up in Switzerland and ask someone to help me CTB?

Total bull--But Pegasos is a little more sympathetic if you lost your spouse after 30 to 40 years or more(since broken heart syndrome is real threat to physical and mental health), but still need statements from doctors etc

@outrider567 thanks, I hadn't even heard of Pegasos until I came on here. I'm glad people who qualify have options at least (I literally thought there was Dignitas and that's it) so it's good for those people.

That's right, but yoh can move there to do it..... you gave to be a resident
Same in Germany. The one VAD association in Germany accepts only German residents. I didn´t even know there is one in the Netherlands. What´s the name ?

I can't find any info if you have to be a citizen and what health conditions are accepted.

I called them and asked to speak to liev thienpont, she explained that Dutch nationals are considered first, however if you relocate to Holland and went under their doctors they would consider, but its unlikely for mental illness alone. Or non terminal. But they have assisted two very young women with unbearable mental illness in Holland. There are utube videos about their cases.

Dignitas, Pegasos, Life Circle - Swiss.
Expertise Centrum Euthanasie - Netherland.
LEIF (LevensEinde Informatie Forum - in Dutch -), Belgium.
ADMD (Association pour le Droit de Mourir dans la Dignité - in French -), Belgium.
Die With Dignity and Go Gently, Australia.

Afaik, one needs at least 3 years residency to get VAD in Canada, 1 year requirement in Columbia and 2 months requirement in Spain.
Only Swiss and Belgium that accept foreigners.

Sounds more complicated than in Switzerland, because you don´t have to be terminally ill in Switzerland. And also all the other requirements sound more complicated in the NL.
Dignitas, Pegasos, Life Circle - Swiss.
Switzerland: + Ex-International (not Exit !!) + Eternal Spirit + Sterbehilfe.de (work in both countries: Germany and Switzerland)

This is interesting: https://www.drze.de/in-focus/euthanasia/modules/belgium-loi-relatif-a-leuthanasie?set_language=en

I'm wondering how long it takes to achieve residency. You can live there but not necessarily be a resident.

There is a difference between residency and permanent residency in the EU. You achieve residency when you move to one of the EU countries as a EU citizen after you have registered with the Aliens' Registration Office with your main place of residence after 3 months. After 5 years you can apply for the Permanent Resident Card. This means: after 3 months you are not a visitor anymore, but a resident.

Interesting. Might be different for those coming from countries outside the EU? I'll look it up. Thanks for this.

At the Euthanasia Expertise Center, more than 90% of euthanasia requests based on psychiatric disorders are rejected.

I haven't seen the video but I remember news reports about the two very young women as I have the same condition they did. Though I'm not very young.
