I was thinking of seeing a psychiatrist. I wonder if some of my mental issues could be fixed. Anyone had any success Or am I wasting my money?
Thanks for this. The side effects of these drugs do not look worth it in my case. The therapist sounds like the better option for me. Appreciate the reply.A psychiatrist is a medical doctor that practices psychiatric medicine. As such, he is likely to try various medications to see if something is helpful. You should be cautioned that there can be serious side effects to some medications and research them yourself before committing to try one.
A therapist might focus more on developing coping skills rather than medication. Regardless of which you choose, you might find a good one or a bad one. To increase your odds, you might try to do some research and get some recommendations.
I agree in part because I think the ideal is both. Medication and therapy. Medication has helped me too.Medication better than therapy imo. I’m also scared of side effects...But the medication I am on has made my life 50-70 per cent better. It was really really shit the depression b4 medication and now it’s better than it was. Am still scared to try new meds but it can help looking at the good reviews.
