I want to make something clear: I am NOT talking about people who are pro choice and urging people to consider the options or what not.

I’m talking about the people who post things like, “why don’t you fix your problems? Are you just too lazy or stupid?” There was a thread like this very recently. Fortunately, it got deleted.

Or, “you guys don’t seem to be serious.”

At least everyone jumps on them quickly and they get their posts deleted.

But they should go to Reddit instead.

It's funny how he became defensive to my proved point. Some problems can't be solved full stop. He probably thought I wouldn't say that because it's taboo to say that life alone sucks most of the time, not only the circumstances. You can't work hard to make cancer go away for example.

Agreed. Clearly he didn’t pay attention in his English class which teaches people to consider their audience.

Yeah, the judgment really sucks but I kind of understand it, and have even gotten it from other suicidal people. It's really hard b/c people can't know firsthand what I'm dealing with, how much pain I'm in, or the circumstances that can't change for me. It's natural to want to have hope for someone else, even if that hope is false, never translates to any discernible action, or totally devoid of the reality of the situation. But also, everyone here wants validation, regardless of their reasoning or circumstances... It's a fine line.

I really do wonder why people who say stuff like "Why don't you stop being lazy/weak and fix your problems?" sign up for spaces like this. Do they want to feel like they have more control over their lives and are therefore superior? Do they truly believe that everyone here haven't tried to explore their options at all or tried to salvage their lives? Have they ever even considered self-deliverance in the first place? That part really boggles my mind. Maybe it's just morbid curiosity.

People don't know what they don't know. It's why empathy can only go so far as that person's ability to imagine.

I hate the pro-lifers who not only push for life, but also want to impose their morality on society, law, culture, and even go as far as violating someone's free will and freedom of choice. That is something that I can't stand nor tolerate.

Oh god there was this one user who used to make posts about how people on here weren't serious, just looking for attention, etc. He used to say that the more posts you had, the less serious you were. Funny thing is he had a lot of posts. But he finally fucked off.
Even if someone is 'just looking for attention', what's bad about that lol everyone needs some personal attention

I think we all want some semblance of attention here. Why else would we post? It makes sense that we want to tell our story and be heard. That's the nice thing about this place - there's no pretense - we've all really been through some shit and need support. We're at the end of the line and considering the scariest thing imaginable (ctb). If you don't want your hand held for at least part of that journey you're a much braver soul than I. To be fair though, I am kind of a chicken shit in general.

I hate being called pro life. I 've had it thrown at me since I got here. Maybe the reason for that is because there's people saying they want to die who belong on reddit. My intuition is generally good I just say it as I see it. Telling people they should live no matter what is bullshit, I don't do that but likewise saying we're all better off dead just because that's how we might feel is madness

Thank God. I wish pro-lifers could get banned, but I guess it is not officially against the rules.

Could we start a petition?

Funny how these people like to pretend free will exists. If we COULD fix our problems we WOULD! It’s such a fucking insult to assert that if we just “think positive” things will get better. They totally ignore the complex neurological and environmental factors that cause our mental illnesses.

These people are basically “neurosupremacists”.

If non existence entirely alleviates suffering, how is the idea mad?
I'm genuinely curious to hear your opinion.

The really fucked up thing is the vast majority of the human population have no idea how our brains work ( to the extent that's knowable) they have no concept of childhood development, what constitutes as trauma and how it can fuck you up for life.

Not to mention, many are hardcore dualist. They genuinely believe are seperate from their brains and THEY (and often some deity) are the sole cause of their actions.

I try to steer clear of those types.

Hitler didn't commit his atrocities on the Jews to alleviate their suffering. On the contrary the process of dying itself usually involves suffering and the devastation left behind to those still alive cannot be underestimated

I like your term, neurosupremacist to describe what those sick pro-life fuckers really are.

Yeah those people just can't be rationally reasoned with, it's almost impossible to win against people like those.

I'm sorry. I wasn't clear. I was referring only to those that wish to end their own lives. Yes, it's hard that's why many take so long to complete the act of suicide. If they ever get around to it.

Plus I try never tell anyone else they'd be better off dead. Who the hell am I?

I don't think Hitler was concerned about alleviating the suffering of those that were murdered during his reign. It wasn't his or anyone else's right to to decide a life other than his own did or didn't deserve to be carried out.

I can't speak to the suffering of those left behind.

Thanks for the reply.

Right. I can post on a million message boards talk to a million therapist and explain to a million "friends". It just won't matter. Even if one can genuinely relate to some of the things I've experienced, they will never know exactly how those experiences affected my ability to "just get over it"

Furthermore, not very many can understand the concept of not wanting to make things better.

You're telling me all i have to do is toast my bread after I've told you a hundred times, I just don't want a damn sandwich!

Anyway, I completely get what you're saying. It's another shitty thing about existence. Even when you're not alone, you're alone.
