Wowie my first thread on this website but it's something that I think about a lot.

I know a lot of people don't believe in ghosts but as a experiencer myself I sometimes wonder if I die I would become one. Especially if I die through suicide since they say people become ghosts through traumatic deaths.
Does anyone else think about this? And would you want to become one or not? Personally I would hate it, being trapped in a location for eternity unable to move on is horrible.

If you want to know about my experiences with ghosts I will write it here:
My dad's parents place has 3 ghosts in it, 1 woman and 2 men. The woman and one of the men died in one of the rooms in the house when a cupboard fell on top of them and squashed them. The other guy was actually the next door neighbour, he committed suicide by putting his head inside of the gas oven and pretty much roasting himself alive.

Everyone on my dads side of the family, their friends and my mother has seen or experienced the ghosts.
When I was young I used to sleep over my grandparents place in the room where 2 people had died in. I woke up early in the morning before the sun came out and standing in the doorway was a floating woman in a flowing dress.
She slowly started flying towards me and I started screaming and calling out for my grandma. When they rushed in the ghost disappeared.
I've also had the TV volume turned up loud on me, the radio turning on and off, taps turn on and off and doors opening and closing. I could go on and on but I better stop here otherwise this would be too long.
If anyone else has experienced any ghosts I would love if you shared it here too.

I would not want to become a ghost for the reasons you state, QueenEtna. If I were to become a ghost, probably a priest would have to exorcise and bless the place that I haunted so that I could move on (Heavenward, I hope!).

I grew up believing that ghosts are evil spirit, or souls in purgatory... so I don't believe I want to be a ghost. It might sound fun to haunt people, but I'll be around other dead people that might want to hurt me.

While I've never experienced ghosts myself, I've experienced someone experiencing seeing ghosts. My grandma was in the hospital. Many people die in the hospital - the bad, the good, and the ugly. While we were standing around her, she looked around her and talked to what seemed like nobody, but when we asked her who she was talking to she described the person so clearly. This wasn't just one case either. Many dead people came in to the room including a small child, an old man with a hat, and a young girl with long hair. There's many more people, but I won't go on. We quickly took her back to her home, safely back in her room, and suddenly she didn't see any ghosts anymore. It was like the dead were trying to invite her over with them.

You would have to deal with other potential ghosts and demonic entities. Then being trapped in a single location unable to leave. What if the place becomes abandoned after you scared everyone out of it? Then you'd be bored :P

Haunting people would be fun in a way until the priest comes to bless the house (though that never works imo). I would love to not believe in ghosts then I wouldn't have to be scared at night :pfff:

Realistically, I'll probably just mess round with people nearby moving some stuff or something like that. But I am not going to be an ass and actually "haunt" haunt people.

Secretly, I want to do some stuff to attract some attention and have Ghost Adventures come and investigate my "paranormal activity" so I can troll them on their EVP and abnormality cameras.

But the brain is a powerful thing, I think it’s in people’s head.
That's what my grandmother thinks, she's never seen the ghosts herself. But my grandfather, he's the type of man who doesn't get scared and keeps things to himself but he told us that he's seen the lady ghost multiple times. Once when he was sleeping he felt breathing on his neck and he thought it was my grandmother but he opened his eyes and saw the lady ghost fly out through the doorway. He's also once thought my grandmother was in the kitchen and he walked in to see it was the ghost instead.
All of my family members on my dad side has experiences with the ghosts and my dad and his sister's friends have also seen them.

My grandmother claims she saw my grandfather as a ghost and she wouldn’t make something like that up but I’ve never witnessed anything really so it’s hard to believe

I can understand why it's hard to believe, it's better not to believe in them because honestly I get scared at night thinking a ghost is gonna pop up even though there isn't one in my house xD I like watching youtubers go to haunted places, but sometimes I think its all fake the stuff they catch. Such a shame there's almost no honesty out there.

If I became a ghost, I might go to see how each of my family members react to my death (assuming I had become a ghost immediately) because they never really tried to understand how I feel. Maybe it was never possible in the first place. But I think it's more about turning a blind eye to things because 1) my parents never probed further, keeping conversations superficial, and 2) my older sister doesn't care (enough) despite having said that she does.

It started with a misunderstanding which lead to my counselor sending me to a psychiatric hospital. That was near the end of the last semester of sophomore year of college. Before then, no one knew I was depressed and had been suicidal for the majority of my life. My parents cried when they came to visit me and we sat there crying on the seats until visiting hours were over. I felt very vulnerable but open at the time and I told them "I want to die." After maybe 10 days, I was released and went back to school for finals week. I then asked my parents if I could take a Leave of Absence (LOA). What happened was that they let me be a shut-in in my room for the entire year I was away from school. I did nothing productive and kept fearing the day I had to return to school--to life--since Day One of my LOA. It was rare but my dad would crack jokes about how I wasn't doing anything or that I was playing in my room a lot. And those jokes really hurt--not that I could say anything because it was true. I didn't do anything. I didn't want to do anything. It was suffocating enough to breathe and distract myself with the very few things I enjoy, doing the same things online everyday, knowing I'll never amount to anything, and having no one to talk to.

A year passed quickly and I was told that I needed to go back to school. I asked them a couple times if I could just not go back but my pleas were futile. I don't know how but I got through junior year of college. It was painful but life goes on when you're not dead. I couldn't stop it. I really didn't want to come back to finish senior year but here I am back in school.

Taking everything into account, I don't think my family can understand. Even if they did, I don't believe they could or would do anything about it. They can't support me forever. They'll force me to find a job once I graduate despite my complete incompetency and social anxiety. Then there's my sister who left to live with her boyfriend on the other side of the country about 2-3 years ago. She hates it when I call her (I went from once a week to once a day because I'm back in school). She texted me back "you call me too much" yesterday. I know she has her own life but I was just so sad to hear that. I've become such a lonely, broken mess.

I guess seeing my family's reaction would let me know that I'm loved, if loved at all. I think my parents would care the longest, and that my sister would get over it quite easily. I don't really want to imagine how my grandpa would feel if I died because he doesn't deserve any more pain at his age. Don't get me wrong--I don't want anyone to suffer for a long time. It's just a small selfish part of me that wants to go: "See, I told you guys I really wanted to die. After all that time, I told you that I was scared and that I was lonely and that it wouldn't work out. I told you guys but your actions and general apathy only hurt me more."

On a less serious note, I don't want to become a ghost if I can't really do anything. I was trying to escape existence, not repeat everything in another plane. Would I never be able to die and attain peace if I were to wake up as a ghost?

Well some people say when they have near death experiences they get to see how everyone reacted to their death and their own funeral so maybe that will happen for you too :) I didn’t when I had my NDE though.

I have seen the former owner of my house as I bought it, he´s dead since the late 80s... I often feel strange feelings at some places, without knowing why until someone tells me that at some of the places murders or accidents happened. I have seen bout 10 different ghosts in my life. I know somebody that has also seen the ghost of a former owner of his grandparents house. He had a cylinder hat and crds in his hands. It is known that a owner in the 1890s lost the house while playing cards and offten hads a cylinder hat. This ghost was seen by everybody that sleeped in the house and was not the owner of the house. I also know a woman that is able to free the souls of ghosts that are catched at one place. I´d love to become a ghost that haunts bad persons, hanging from their ceiling and so on, like in horror movies
